Yesterday, Cala Figuera celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with a day marked by devotion, tradition, and the participation of numerous residents and visitors.

The celebration began with a solemn Mass at the church of Cala Figuera in honour of the patron saint of seafarers, featuring the participation of the Santanyí Municipal School of Music. The Eucharist brought together parishioners and families who, once again, wished to pay tribute to one of the most beloved Marian devotions along the Santanyí coastline.

Following the religious service, the image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was carried in procession to the harbour, accompanied by the Santanyí Municipal Band. The streets of the port were filled with music, prayer, and emotion during a procession that forms part of the collective memory of several generations.

The day concluded with the traditional maritime procession, one of the most eagerly awaited moments of the celebration. The image of the Virgin was taken aboard a vessel and accompanied by numerous decorated boats that sailed through the harbour waters in a moving expression of faith, respect, and the deep connection between the local community and the sea.

The Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel remains one of Cala Figuera’s most deeply rooted traditions, bringing together faith, identity, and heritage around a figure who, for centuries, has been regarded as the protector of sailors and all those whose lives are linked to the sea.
