Generations of Lombards have gathered every August 8th in the parish church to celebrate their patron saint, Saint Dominic de Guzmán. This morning we did the same thing again. We celebrated the Eucharist, we placed before the altar the joys and concerns of our people and we remembered this saint who dedicated his life to preaching the Gospel, convinced that faith had to pass through the heart and the intelligence. Perhaps these days, when Mass begins in Cala d'Or, you'll be surprised to hear a different accent. That's perfectly normal! Congratulations, Mr. Antoni Burguera, for the opening speech you gave us tonight in Es Llombards. It has been a journey through the town you have lived in and loved: the memories of your childhood, the little stories that many still remember, the beginnings of Llombards TV... All told with that touch of tenderness and humor that makes each person find a piece of their own life. Thank you for reminding us that a people is, above all, the shared memory of its people.
